Our History:
Gerald W. Thiel followed in his father, Jacob's footsteps and became a
quality craftsman. Jerry started his carpentry career with his brothers'
business and worked his way up through the ranks as a journeyman, leadman,
foreman, superintendent and then to executive vice-president. After
twenty-two years of dedicated service for his brothers, Jerry decided to
venture out on his own.
G. W. Thiel, Inc. started contracting with custom home builders in the
fall of 1977 and eventually branched out to residential and commercial
project developments. Jerry began with a small crew of journeyman
carpenters. As his crew size grew, Jerry began hiring apprentices
from the Carpenter Apprentice Training Center. Jerry dedicated time
with those apprentices; he taught them every aspect of carpentry and
made sure that their focus was on a quality product and safety.
Jerry's aspiration was to leave G. W. Thiel, Inc. as a legacy for his
family, so he built his company on a secure foundation of integrity and
quality workmanship. In October 2005, Jerry decided to pass on the
reins to the next generation.
G. W. Thiel carries on the fundamental principles that were established
in 1977. The company's continuous improvement, goal-setting, and
measurement of performance is linked to maintaining excellent relationships
with their employees, customers and vendors, and the union.
